THE CRUMPLED MAGIC 8 BALL

Performance:

"Have any of you heard of a Magic 8 Ball?”

Many in the audience say yes.

"A Magic 8 Ball is a toy usually seen mainly in western countries for fortune-telling or seeking advice, now these are available in India, but I have never bought one. I always make them myself, and they never fail!”

The mind reader writes something on a piece of paper and crumples it into a ball.

"This is now a homemade Magic 8 Ball because it contains the answer to one lady’s near future!”

He throws it out to a lady who catches it.

"What is your name?”

"Suhani.”

"Let’s see if you can read my mind in just a moment.”

"But first, Suhani, please ask the Magic 8 Ball if you will be able to read my mind.”

She asks the homemade Magic 8 Ball that very question.

"Let's see what the paper ball says.”

She opens it. It reads:

"MY SOURCES SAY THAT YOU WILL BE OFF BY ONE."

This will make sense in a moment.” (says the mind reader.)

The mind reader now explains that he has placed one playing card out of fifty-two in his pocket. This is the card that he is thinking of.

"I want you to simply picture in your mind the card that I'm thinking of. Do you see a picture card or a number card?”

"A picture card.”

"Okay. Is it a red or a black picture card that I have in mind?”

"A red one.”

"So far so good. Is it a heart or a diamond?”

"A heart.”

"That's very interesting. So what picture card, in the suit of hearts, am I thinking of?”

"I think that it is the King of Hearts.”

"I was thinking of the Queen of Hearts, so that was quite good.”

The mind reader takes a jumbo card out of his inside jacket pocket and shows that it is the Queen of Hearts.

"You were off by one!”

Attention is now brought back to the paper ball that she holds.

"You see, my homemade Magic 8 Ball was right, as it always is!”

It can be an opening trick for a mentalist. No deck of cards are in use. Good for all kind of venues, Close-up, Stand-up, Parlor, Stage.
